    Marvelous performances for enthusiastic audiences.

Enjoy the enchanting  sound of the Sarasota Mandolin Orchestra consisting of mandolins, mandola, mandocello, bass, Russian domra and guitars.  Its forte is a smorgasbord of ethnic music - Italian, Russian, Greek, Hungarian, Yiddish, Spanish, etc. Its repertoire also consists of  ragtime, popular and semi-classical music.  Sergio Zigras, our Hellenic guitarist often serenades the audience with a lovely Greek ballad. Often the orchestra inspires the audience to rise up and twirl to a lively Tarantella. The orchestra  is looking for Mandolinists and guitarists who can read music.

  • Louis Paige (1931-2015) started the mandolin orchestra 20 years ago. Much of the music has been arranged by him.  He has graciously hosted rehearsals which will still continue at his home. He is sorely missed.

  • The orchestra has played for enthusiastic audiences at Glen Ridge performing Arts Center, Longboat Key Education Center, Selby  Library,  Munchtime Musicales, Pelican Cove, etc .   Churches,  synagogues, Senior centers, ethnic clubs (Venice  Italian-American Club (15 performances) have  enjoyed the magic of the mandolins.  Senior Care Facilities such as Kobernik House, Sarasota Bay Club, Bay Village, etc. are other venues which have welcomed the  orchestra  to entertain their residents time and time again.
